FAQ

Decatur IT questions, answered

What practice owners, office managers and nonprofit directors in Decatur ask us most.

What does managed IT mean in practice?

You hand ongoing care of your technology, from laptops and Wi-Fi to logins, security tools and backups, to one provider, and pay a set amount each month. You pay for things to be maintained and supported, not just repaired after they break.

Which areas around Decatur do you cover?

Decatur itself, including downtown and the Square, Oakhurst and North Decatur, plus Avondale Estates, Emory and Druid Hills, Tucker, Kirkwood and East Lake. On-site work is done by engineers from our Alpharetta office.

How quickly will I hear back?

A senior engineer replies to every new inquiry within one business day. Clients get urgency-based response targets in writing, and the bulk of everyday requests are closed remotely on the day they come in.

I'm a solo therapist. Is managed IT overkill?

Not necessarily. Even one clinician has HIPAA duties around encryption, access and backups. We can cover a single practitioner with a small, fixed scope focused on those essentials.

Can you help us document HIPAA safeguards?

Yes. We set up and record the technical safeguards, such as encryption, multifactor sign-in, audit logs and tested backups, and give you evidence for your risk analysis. Your practice stays responsible for its policies.

We're a nonprofit. How do you keep costs down?

We check current nonprofit pricing from Microsoft and other vendors, keep using hardware that is still safe, and put money first into sign-in security and backups, which prevent the most expensive problems.

Our office is in an old building and the Wi-Fi is bad. Can you fix it?

Usually. We measure coverage room by room, then place business-grade access points where people sit. Thick walls and long buildings often need two or three small access points instead of one big router.

Do we need a long contract?

You see and discuss every term of the agreement before committing. We'd rather keep clients because the work is good than because they're locked in.

What happens if we get hit by ransomware?

We cut infected machines off, trace what the attacker reached, bring systems back from locked backups and guide you through telling your insurer, bank, clients or patients if needed.

Can you work alongside our part-time IT person?

Yes. Some offices keep a staff member or volunteer for small tasks and use us for security, monitoring, backups and projects. We agree in writing who handles what.
